As it’s the start of 2009, there’s quite a lot of information that you’ll need for the coming months:

Membership:

It’s time to renew your membership.  We’ve kept the 2008 prices, so please complete the form (following in another email) and send it to me with the fees, or hand it in to Andy, Roger, Pete, Abi or Neil on Club Night.

We now have a few more membership benefits for you:

• Reduced fee for gate practice
• 10% discount on sales and servicing at North West Mountain Bike Centre, Cheadle – see www.nwmtb.com
• 10% discount at Bicycle Doctor – see www.bicycledoctor.co.uk
• Discounted British Cycling membership for club members (if you are new to British Cycling).

 Club Track Times & Coaching

The Club sessions at the track are:

          Thursday Nights – 6:30 through to 9:00

          Saturday Afternoons – 3:00 through to 6:00

 We are hoping to start some coaching sessions during 2009, we’ll let you know more details as and when our coaches become qualified.

 Racing:

On Saturday 7^th February, there will be an Open Race at Platt Fields.  Registration will be at 3.00pm. to 3:30pm. Racing should start at 4:00pm. Just £2.00 to race!!

The North Region has now set all of the dates for the Summer races:

If you wish to qualify for the British Championships at Cheddar on September 19-20^th, you must race in 5 Regional rounds.

To qualify for an end of season trophy, you must race 6 Regional rounds.

 Race fees are £8.00 for all Expert Categories and £5.00 for Novices

 National Racing is coming to Manchester on the 7^th to the 9^th of August.  We’ll keep you updated with information as it is released.

 British Cycling Membership & Race Licences:

Experts must have Silver or Gold British Cycling membership.

Novices do not need any British Cycling membership.

 For information on joining the Governing body for Cycle Sport, go to www.britishcycling.org.uk or call 0161 274 2010.  If you have never been a member of British Cycling, then you can receive a discount of up to £13.50, so for under 12’s, you will get your membership free.

 For those racing at National level, then as well as membership, you’ll require a racing licence.  It’s free for under 16’s, but does cost for those 17 and over.

 Also, to help raise much needed funds for the club, how about visiting:

www.buy.at/manchesterbmx  You can go to the shops you regularly shop at online via this site, and for however much you spend, the club will get a percentage.  This costs you nothing, but helps the club.

Track Condition:

The track’s currently in a pretty sorry state and it does look like the club will have to raise cash towards ensuring it can be used in all weather.  By joining the club, you will be ensuring that we can tackle these issues sooner rather than later.  The Buy at function on the website could also be a useful tool in raising much needed funds.

 Volunteers:

If you would like to help at the Club, please let us know.  We really appreciate anyone with the time to help on race days, marshalling, registering riders, setting up, clearing away, whatever you can do, please let us know.

Most of our correspondence goes out via email, this way you are kept as up to date as possible with club news.  When filling out your membership renewal, please make sure your email address is filled out, if you have one.
