Tuesday Structured Training And Coaching

Thursday, September 30th, 2010

OK riders, after another successful season for Manchester BMX we are now heading into the gloomy Autumn and Winter months. To keep all our club riders fit and motivated through the winter we have now finalised our training programme for the next few months.

Training on Tuesdays will be split into Juniors and Seniors, one Tuesday it will be Manchester Junior Race Team training and then the next Tuesday it’s Senior Advanced Race Coaching With Marcus “Bloomy” Bloomfield. The Junior and Senior sessions will run on alternate Tuesdays throughout the winter as long as there is enough demand from riders. All Tuesday sessions will become structured training/coaching and you will need to pre-book your place on the sessions by email: info@manchesterbmx.co.uk  Due to the formal structured training the track will only be open exclusively for riders booked on the training sessions. Our more laid back gate practice sessions will of course continue on Thursday and Saturdays for all riders.

mbmxjuniorlogo400cropManchester BMX Junior Race Team Training:

Tuesdays: 6.00pm – 7.30pm

Oct 5th
Oct 19th
Nov 2nd

Nov 30th
Dec 14th

We will be selecting 8 riders to join the Junior Race Team and train throughout the winter on these dates, criteria to join team is:
• To have raced at regional level in expert class
• Age 5-11
• To race for Manchester at the forthcoming North Region Club Championships on Oct 17th at Preston
• To be a current member of Manchester BMX Club
• To be accompanied by a parent or Guardian during the training sessions.

If you would like to be considered for a place on the junior team please email: info@manchesterbmx.co.uk
We will announce the junior team after the Club Championships on Oct 17th.
Cost of junior team training session will be £2 and all monies will go back to the junior riders by way of race clothing, stickers, rewards scheme etc
Sarah Harrop has kindly offered to run a rewards scheme for the junior team with incentives such as trips out to Pizza Hut or MacDonald’s to be funded by the session fees.
For the first 2 sessions Sam Foakes will be helping to get the training started and then handing over the running of session to Simon, Andy and Roger.
The junior team will provide an excellent “stepping stone” for riders who have excelled on Sam’s Youth Club and who are now ready for some serious race action.
The Junior team training is also an excellent incentive for all “would be” coaches to get involved, any riders or parents who are interested in coaching are very welcome to attend the first 2 sessions with a view to helping out the Juniors throughout the winter.

Manchester BMX Senior Advanced Coaching With Marcus Bloomfield:

Oct 26th
Nov 9th

Dec 7th
Dec 21st

After the success of the Kelvin Batey and recent Marcus Bloomfield sessions we will be continuing the Tuesday night sessions on a fortnightly basis through the winter.
There will be 12-14 places available each week aimed at riders aged 11 and over who have competed or intend to compete at National level.
If you are serious about improving your race skills and fitness these sessions are a must.
Learn top secret race and training techniques from literally the best BMX Elite racers in the UK.
The cost of the “Bloomy” sessions is just £10 per rider and riders must pre book by email: info@manchesterbmx.co.uk

Imagine if you were a hopeful amateur footballer and you had chance to be coached by David Beckham for just £10, well then, believe me this is the equivalent in BMX terms!!
Again, due to the nature of the structured coaching, access to the track on a Tuesday will be exclusively for riders pre booked on the session.

So whatever age you are one of the 2 sessions should suit. Please remember if you are not booked on the session you will not be able to ride the track on Tuesdays. If you are looking for more relaxed gate practice and riding then please join us on the regular club sessions Thursday and Saturday.

Track Amendments Saturday 2nd & Sunday 3rd October

Saturday, September 25th, 2010

During the weekend of Saturday 2nd and Sunday 3rd of October we will be making some slight changes to track and carrying out general track maintenance. Therefore the track will be closed from Friday 1st October through till Sunday 3rd October. This will also mean that the Saturday Club gate session will be cancelled.

Once again the club will be using the services of Dirtworks Phil “Hudu” Charnley to take to the controls of our excavator and re-sculpt a couple of jumps. The main work will be removing the “bump” from the exit of berm 1 and making the first jump on the second straight into a slightly longer stepped up double. There will also be a minor tweak to the jump into the first berm to try and encourage a few more riders to jump the entire jump whilst still retaining a fast flowing way through the jump for more intermediate riders.

Most machine work will take place Friday and Saturday, during the machine work there will be no children under the age of 16 allowed on site due to health and safety reasons. Sunday will be the day where we need as much help as possible to lay the top surface, all members any age are very welcome to help out with the work on Sunday and we will be on site from 9AM. Please come and join us on Sunday to help with the final stages and feel free to bring along a wheelbarrow and shovel if you have one. As the saying goes many hands make light work!

Hope to see as many members as possible next Sunday for the work party!

SATURDAY 18TH SEP CLUB SESSION CANCELLED

Wednesday, September 15th, 2010

Due to most of our club riders being away at the British Championships this weekend the normal club session between 3pm and 6pm is cancelled.

However, in replacement the council will open the facility all day Saturday at their normal tariff.
This means you can still go and ride the track but there will be no gates.

Good luck to all our riders this weekend, see you down at Cheddar!
