National

Northern Soul!

Last year the sun shone on the Rainy City and Manchester was awarded Best National for 2009. With the 2010 series seeing increased rider numbers and some incredible race action, the Manchester club and North Region have pulled out all the stops to make sure this year’s event lives up to expectations.

With a few crucial redesigns to the track, including a completely new 3rd straight that should be much faster, the stage is set for a great weekend of action!

Information for Competitors;

Parking/Camping:

·         Competitor parking for the National will be from the Platt Lane entrance.  This does give riders a slightly longer journey to the track, but the increased size of National events has made this action necessary.  Please follow the “BMX parking” signs on Saturday and Sunday.

·         Official’s parking and camping access will be from the normal Mabfield Road entrance, which is accessible from Wilmslow Road.  Camping is available from midday on Friday until 6pm on Sunday at a cost of £20.00.  The campsite will be Heras fenced with 24 hour security.

·         Everyone accessing the BMX track, camp site or car park will be issued with a wristband.  Security and stewards will be on hand to ensure this goes smoothly.  No wristband = no access.

Laterooms.com is a good place to find cheaper accommodation in Manchester, but there are also several Premier Inns near the track. Other hotels close to the venue;

Practice:

Friday’s practice will be held from 5pm until 8pm and will be charged at £3.00 per rider.

 Gazebos:

All teams must book in via secretary@manchesterbmx.co.uk Clubs do not have to book space for their gazebo, although all clubs and teams are charged £5.00 per 3m x 3m area.  Non payers will be reported to BC to have their team/club points removed.

 Entertainment:

·         Terry Green will be handling the tunes at Manchester with the UK’s top commentary team of Uncle Buck and Northern Monkey doing the talking.

·         Spud and Grill, the North’s top outdoor caterers will have the usual favourites and will once again be providing a juice and crepe bar.

·         We’ll be giving away prizes throughout the weekend.  The event’s top prize is a Flight Junior race bike courtesy of the folks at Redline that will be given away to some lucky boy or girl straight after Saturday’s Elite final.

The area:

The track is close to Manchester’s famous Curry Mile, with enough Asian cuisine choices to keep even the fussiest eater happy! For those who want a few refreshing drinks after a hard day’s racing, there’s the student area of Fallowfield staggering distance from the track, where there are bars aplenty.

Sponsors:

The event sponsors are Monster Energy, EA Access, Redline, Fli Distribution.
