Ok Riders….. The 2011 Season Preview

April 7th, 2011

Manchester BMX Club is a race club through and through and we’re all eagerly anticipating the start of the 2011 season!

The North Region Summer Series gives us the first race of the year with the opening round at Leeds (The fast Fearnville track) on Sunday 17th April. There are eight Regionals which take in the tracks in the North and the series is the way riders can qualify for the British BMX Championships which are once again at the marmite -like Cheddar track.

Regionals are the step up from club races and allow riders to gain valuable experience without the higher costs of racing Nationals.

The North Region dates are;

Rd. 1 April 17th Leeds (Fearnville)
Rd. 2 May 15th Bradford
Rd. 3 May 29th Crewe
Rd. 4 June 5th Preston
Rd. 5 June 12th Mid lancs
Rd. 6 June 26th North East
Rd. 7 August 7th Manchester
Rd. 8 August 28th Goldcoast

British BMX Championships (Brits) 24th-25th September – Cheddar

The 2011 National Series sees the premier race series in the UK visit six venues with Manchester playing host to the final rounds. The Nationals are double headers, with one round on Saturday and the other on Sunday making 12 rounds in all at the 6 venues. Rider’s best 8 results count for the final standings.

The club has several riders in with a chance of making the top 8 at Nationals which this year carry added weight as it’s through the National Series that riders can qualify for the World Championships which in 2012 are in Birmingham.

2011 National Series;

Rd 1 & 2: Apr 30-May 1 Peterborough

Rd 3 & 4: May 21-22 Dagenham

Rd 5 & 6: July 2-3 Braintree

Rd 7 & 8: July 16-17 Redditch

Rd 9 & 10: August 13-14 Gosport

Rd 11 & 12: Sept 3-4 Manchester

With our own Junior Race Team now established and a crop of other young talent emerging, Manchester is definitely a club on the rise!
